Taking 'The Case' on the road
Alan Boyle will be talking about The Case for Pluto at bookstores and other venues around the country. Here are some of the events scheduled so far:
March 12: Celebrate Pluto's planethood in the town where its discoverer was born, at the Planet Pluto Expo 2 (P2E2) in Streator, Illinois. I'll be speaking to several high-school and elementary-school classes during the day, and there'll be a talk and a book signing at Streator City Hall at 7 p.m. Check Streator's calendar of events for further details.
March 16: I'll be returning to the virtual world
known as Second Life for an appearance on
"The 1st
Question" at 7 p.m. SLT / PT. Can I use my
lifeline?
Here's the SLURL that will teleport you to the
show.
March 29:
Science on Tap presents "The Case for Dwarf
Planets" at Third Place Books in Seattle's Ravenna
neighborhood. Things get started at 7 p.m., and you
can have a brew as we lay some planetary science on
you. Why else do you think they call it "Science on
Tap"?
April 15: "The Case for Pluto" will be presented
at the
Marian Koshland Science Museum of the National
Academy of Sciences, Washington, D.C.
April 20: I'll be in Boston and Cambridge,
Massachusetts, to speak to the
Knight
Science Journalism fellows at MIT and perhaps
organize a public event as well. Stay tuned for
further word.
April 23: "The Case for Pluto" takes its
place at the Columbia Alumni Book Fair at Low
Library, Columbia University, New York.
